We’re looking for a Director of Operations who will oversee, safeguard and improve operational efficiency across its various internal departments. This is a role that supports the newly appointed Executive Director in accelerating the development of the RJC and its strategic goals. It is likely that you will be an Operations Leader with strong knowledge of sustainability issues around the jewellery and watches supply chain, with the ability to lead and motivate a group of passionate, purpose-led, and talented individuals.

 

Role & Responsibilities

As the Director of Operations, you will be:

  • Supporting the Executive Director, Board and Exco in all matters of the organisation, advising on, and implementing ExCo and Board decisions.
  • Taking a lead role in reviewing and approving all new member applications. You will also implement revisions to the application criteria for potential members.
  • Managing recruitment and transition for new staff and overseeing the HR and performance management programme to motivate a high-performing team.
  • Overseeing the budget, ensuring expenditure has maximum impact against the organisational mission and goals. ​
  • Acting as the spokesperson for the RJC with trade media, working with the ED and the Communications team to build RJC’s profile across relevant trade media. Representing RJC on industry panels, and proactively seeking opportunities to take part in industry panels.

 

 

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

You will be able to leverage the following experience/skills in this role:

  • Established operations leader with the ability to foster a culture of mutual respect, collaboration and transparency that allows team members to feel included, valued and appreciated.
  • Knowledge and experience within sustainability issues around the jewellery and watches supply chain is key to the role, from mining to refinery and retail.
  • Strong leadership skills to drive forward problem-solving and increase efficiency/improve processes within the organization.
  • Excellent communicator who interacts with and influences stakeholders and staff at all levels, including an aptitude for public speaking whilst attending trade shows.
  • Raising RJC’s profile to the trade audience is key to the role, so you should have the appetite to be part of panel discussions, as well as be a spokesperson for trade press.

Candidates with at least three years of content creation experience and two years of video and ad creation are preferred.

This is a skills-based role, you will be responsible for creating all content (from ideation to production), and you will need to be comfortable translating strategy into simple, readable prose.

  • Writing, posting and responding to social content, updating the website, compiling and sending newsletters, responding to trade interviews and speech writing.
  • Making ‘How to…’ and training videos and walkthroughs.
  • Turning complex ideas and processes into visually appealing and easy-to-understand infographics, charts and diagrams.
  • Data visualisation and conversion of existing reports and documents into informative and engaging branded content.
  • Planning and implementing content in conjunction with the Comms and Marketing team.
  • Coming up with ideas for forward planning and digital campaigns and strategy.
