The 17 Sustainable Development Goals aim to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for everyone by 2030. Nearly all the countries in the world have promised to improve the planet and the lives of its citizens by 2030.The goals were created with businesses in mind, providing a “Pathway for Humanity” — for any business to harness their power by directing their efforts toward specific global objectives and positive impact. Any company can find something on the diverse list of Sustainable Development Goals to work toward. Small and medium-sized businesses, however, are uniquely positioned to make significant impacts on the SDG targets. The events of 2020 — from the global pandemic and civil unrest to natural disasters — underline how critical it is to develop an action plan to address the SDGs.
In partnership with the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) is enabling this effort towards positive global impacts by the jewelry industry. RJC will give an overview about the SDGs, what they are and why they matter to the jewelry industry and the world at large. We know the consumer cares and Millennials and Gen Z want to understand more about what companies do to build back better-it is all about Purpose in Action. Participants will receive guidance, practical tools and real-life examples of how to implement, measure and manage their organization’s contribution to the 17 SDGs.
