COVID-19

Open letter to all stakeholders

Dear Stakeholders,

The new coronavirus disease, officially named COVID-19, has been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization.

Members of the jewellery and watch industry are going through a challenging time, affected by the current health and economic climate.

The Responsible Jewellery Council would like to extend its thoughts to all stakeholders and their families around the world.

As the virus continues to spread extensively, we have taken additional precautionary measures. We need to be proactive and minimise the risk of the virus spreading.

Everyone’s health, safety and well-being during this global health emergency is paramount. As a result, from Monday 16 March the RJC team will operate remotely for the next two weeks – while we monitor this situation.

All RJC Auditors have been notified and received additional information on managing member audits during this period. We thank you for your continued support.

Stay safe,
Kind regards,

Iris Van der Veken
Executive Director

About RJC

The Responsible Jewellery Council is an international not-for-profit standards and certification organisation. It has more than 1,200 member companies that span the jewellery supply chain from mine to retail. RJC Members commit to and are independently audited against the RJC Code of Practices – an international standard on responsible business practices for diamonds, gold and platinum group metals. The Code of Practices (COP) addresses human rights, labour rights, environmental impact, mining practices, product disclosure and many more important topics in the jewellery supply chain. RJC also works with multi-stakeholder initiatives on responsible sourcing and supply chain due diligence. The RJC’s Chain-of-Custody Certification (CoC) for precious metals supports these initiatives and can be used as a tool to deliver broader Member and stakeholder benefit. Through the implementation of the COP and CoC members contribute towards the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 agenda.

The RJC is a Full Member of the ISEAL Alliance – the global association for sustainability standards. For more information on RJC Members, Certification, and Standards please visit www.responsiblejewellery.com and connect with us on LinkedInTwitter and Facebook.
